As noted recently, there was some resistance to the draft within the Confederacy. While the Georgia legislature lodged a pro forma protest, citizens in Lincoln County, TN (home of Jack Daniels, BTW) took more direct action.


NASHVILLE, Tuesday, Dec. 2.

There is much excitement in Middle Tennessee about the enforcement of the conscription act. A regular organization has been formed in Lincoln County to resist the conscription, and the people there fired upon the rebel cavalry while they were conscripting.

    Good that you let people know that not all the Rebels went along willingly. “Company Aych” describes this to a tee.
