Sophie gets to Costa Rica

Sophie arrived in Costa Rica this afternoon — she’s a bit upset, since they lost her large suitcase that contained all her clothes.  Presumably they’ll get that to her soon.  On the plus side, at least she got there safely.

Definitely better that she make it quickly and her luggage not than the other way around. Isn’t Costa Rica pretty tropical? She should be able to get away with a few light inexpensive garments, no?

Yep. High today was 78, I think. With a low in the 60s. So we told her to buy a t-shirt.

That doesn’t sound too arduous. (Not like the time someone I know left a bag on a plane, and the bag contained her birth control pills, and the plane took her to Soviet Russia, and it was February. There’s nothing quite like going off a birth control pill mid-cycle, in winter, in Leningrad. No indeed.)

I once lost my school uniform on the plane back from Greece. I know that isn’t a terrific hardship, but… explaining why you aren’t in uniform gets tiresome fairly quickly.

It turned up eventually, having been to Dublin without me. I’ve not been there yet.

My grandparents’ luggage went astray on the way to my uncle’s wedding (in America). Including the clothes they were planning to wear. My grandfather was not terribly amused at having to buy a new wedding-worthy suit.

I love that your uniform went to Dublin without you. I wonder what kinds of mischief it got into there?

  6. K says:

Oh, drinking Guinness, declaiming Yeats and flirting with unsuitable men at the very least, I hope. It was only there for two days so I hope it made good use of its time.

I was once temporarily separated from my birth control in Japan. My mother had to mail it to me because modern oral contraceptives are not legal in Japan; they only allow crazy 1960s-level estrogen horse pills, which may explain why most Japanese women are convinced that messing with your hormones is a Bad Idea. Anyway, I’ve always assumed that this particular packet was confiscated in the mail or something, so I ended up having to take an unscheduled break while I waited for another supply to arrive, but at least that was at the end of the previous pack.

I stand corrected. There *is* something like going off birth control pill mid-cycle in Leningrad: doing so in Japan.

    :-)
