My bike ride to work

Morning commute - Touchdown Estates

This is the view from the top of the hill at the entrance to Touchdown Estates.  They have a wooden statue of a football player, and the streets are named things like “Linebacker Lane” and “Touchdown Drive” and “Incomplete Pass Alley” or something.

It’s really fortunate that good views tend to occur at the tops of hills, because I’m not all that likely to hit the brakes in the middle of a 25 MPH coast at the bottom of one so I can stop and take a picture.  When you’re panting after a walking-speed climb to the top of a steep grade, a photo break seems like a pretty good idea.

I could never live in a themed neighborhood like that. Back near my hometown there’s one built around a golf course and all the roads are named after pro golfers. There’s a development here in Tucson where all the roads are named after the investors.

Yeah, a friend of mine who teaches in the English Department lives on Unnecessary Roughness Place or something like that. It’s a burden.

There’s also the issue of trying to give your address to people. Can you imagine getting somebody to understand Fuzzy Zoeller Lane or Mrs. Charles Patrick MacLean Drive? Good luck getting a pizza delivered.

There’s a Disc Drive in Reno.

And speaking of themed neighborhoods, anyone else here a Boondocks fan?
